Phil, Nikki & The Team welcome you to the multi-award winning Bell in Studham 'Best countryside pub in Bedfordshire 2025' amongst other awards recently: Best historic pub in Bedfordshire. And over the past years: 2nd in the National Pub & Bar Awards & Best Pub in the SME Beds Business awards 2018 as well as finalists and winners of local hospitality awards. All of which we are very proud of and thank you so much for all your support over the years!
A grade II listed building, that is over 500 years old and is situated in idyllic countryside in Bedfordshire. As soon as you walk into The Bell you'll feel a sense of warmth as the original 500 year old character of a 'proper pub' wraps itself around you, welcomes you warmly with echoes of contemporary touches and lots to see and browse in the restaurant and study bar. Decorated with original features alongside colours of stone, cream, duck egg blue and contrasting twinkly ceiling lights, books, logs, beams, wooden floors, brick and inglenook fireplace finishes.
We offer freshly prepared dishes, and a selection of beverages, wines and real ales from local breweries down the road. We take pride in hearty homemade dishes with English classics like 'Fish & triple cooked Chips' with lashings of vinegar to eat in or as your LOCAL CHIPPY! and our popular Traditional Sunday Roasts with crispy roast potatoes & all the Trimmings. Phil's 'Home-made Pies' are hugely popular...made with Love...Our menu is full of familiar favourites with the occasional choice of specials that the team will advise you about....

We have a large car park directly opposite and a beautiful garden all around with delightful panoramic views of the open countryside. Looking to enjoy the area, we are a genuine rural pub just minutes from Whipsnade Zoo, the Dunstable Downs & Whipsnade Tree Cathedral. Surrounded by beautiful countryside for walks and cycling, it really is a hidden gem within some of Bedfordshire's finest countryside. Ideal if you are going for a walk or on a cycle route to stop at for a breakfast, drinks or a bite to eat!

A bit about us... We arrived in 2004 and acquired the freehold in 2009. Phil has been a landlord for over 40 years in restaurants and pubs around England and Nikki comes from a design and business background and has been in the trade for over 25 years. Sadly our pub dog, 'Jazz' has passed but the doggy treats are there to share with other 4 legged friends who are very welcome in the 'Study Bar' and they can enjoy a doggy dinner too while you relax & escape for a while! Just ask a team member...
Can we ask you to keep them on a lead and be mindful in the garden areas as a collection of feral cats have made the Bell their home and we do what we can to look after them. They can be spotted around enjoying a treat or sunbathing!
We take pride in what we offer and stick to familiar favourites for you to enjoy. Our menu doesn't transition as we find it's nice to go somewhere and just know you will get something that you know you already have enjoyed. On occasions there may be specials and deals and the team will be happy to advise.
